Commit, Contribute, Change

Commit to AmeriCorps* VISTA for one year.

Contribute to the growth of a nonprofit by serving those in need.

Change your community for the better.

AmeriCorps* VISTA is a national service program run directly by the Corporation for National and Community Service.  For over 40 years, VISTA has been dedicated to working with agencies in communities to help further local efforts in alleviating poverty. Individuals work full time for one year at nonprofit organizations and public agencies to recruit community volunteers, raise funds, help manage projects, and otherwise build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to become sustainable. United Way of the Piedmont sponsors 17 AmeriCorps*VISTA sites in Spartanburg County.

AmeriCorps*VISTA is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents age 18 and older.  During their year of service, members receive a living allowance, as well as health care benefits, childcare allowance and training.  Upon successful completion of their service, members receive either an AmeriCorps Education Award of $4,725 to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans.
