Community Impact

Cherokee Indicators Project

The Cherokee Indicators Project is a partnership between United Way of the Piedmont, Cherokee County Community Foundation, Upstate Workforce Investment Board, and countless organizations and individuals throughout Cherokee County. The project engages community members in discussion about our area's most pressing issues. The goal is to identify and examine key social, economic, and environmental indicators that illustrate Cherokee County's quality of life. The final product is a document that serves as an educational tool, a grant reference, a planning foundation -- but most importantly a catalyst for change.

Partnership

Partnership is the cornerstone of this project. We have commitment form United Way of the Piedmont, Upstate Workforce Investment Board and Cherokee County Foundation to provide project management. We have secured a project chairman, Barry Morgan, who will guide the Indicator's Cabinet in the oversight and direction. Other likely partners include the City of Gaffney, Town of Blacksburg, Cherokee County Government, Limestone College, Cherokee County Schools, Timken, Nestle, Milliken, Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Metropolitan Studies Institute at USC Upstate, Spartanburg Community College, and countless others.
