A. United Way of the Piedmont is a private, not-for-profit organization governed
by a local volunteer board of directors. With the support of a professional staff,
a diverse group of volunteers work to bring organizations, people, and resources
together to focus on critical issues that affect the community.
Q. What makes United Way unique?
A. The United Way of the Piedmont is truly a visionary organization. We are uniquely
qualified to bring together partners that can play a role in changing the community
for the better. We are constantly looking ahead to ensure that future health and
human service needs of the Spartanburg and Union communities will be met and that
future problems can be avoided.
Q. Why is the United Way the best choice for my gift?
A. The United Way of the Piedmont is at the center of Spartanburg and Union's
health and human services community, representing a broad spectrum of health and
human not-for-profit service assets. A gift to United Way’s Community Impact Fund supports
hundreds of programs that have been evaluated by trained volunteers and identified
as achieving measurable outcomes in our community. United Way is committed to
ensuring that your contribution makes a significant difference in people’s lives.
A. The money you contribute stays in your community, unless you tell us otherwise.
United Way funded programs and services respond to specific community needs identified
by you, our customer. Because United Way gives money to agency programs that serve
specific purposes for specific groups of people, you can be assured that donations
reach those who truly need help. We are happy to honor your designation to your
favorite tax-exempt organization in this county or in other parts of the state
or country.
Q. How much of my money actually goes to programs and services?
A. Ninety cents of every dollar collected goes to programs and services. This
leaves just 10% for United Way of the Piedmont’s administrative expenses. Our
extensive use of volunteers helps keep costs low, enabling us to put more money
right back into this community.
