Director, RSVP of Cherokee & Union Counties

United Way of the Piedmont has an immediate opening for the Director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Cherokee and Union Counties.  This is a part-time, salaried position averaging 28 hours per week.

RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over. Conceived during John F. Kennedy's presidency, RSVP currently links more than 500,000 Americans to service opportunities. Their contributions of skills, knowledge, and experience make a real difference to individuals, nonprofits, and faith-based and other community organizations throughout the United States.  To learn more about RSVP, click here.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) administers RSVP through local human service organizations.  United Way of the Piedmont has served as the sponsor for RSVP of Spartanburg since 2005.  Earlier this month, we received a CNCS grant to organize and manage RSVP in Cherokee and Union Counties.

As RSVP does not currently exist in Cherokee or Union Counties, this is a unique opportunity for the right candidate.  We need someone who is knowledgeable of the community, is self-directed, understands the basic tenets of program management, and loves working with volunteers.  Most important is a sincere desire to improve our community through service.
