MISSION UNITED is coming to Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties thanks to a partnership between United Way of the Piedmont and Upstate Warrior Solution. The program helps veterans, active duty service members, and their families tap into the services they need to resume a civilian life. We streamline these services into one simple and easy process.
Our goal is to increase access to customized services for veterans including:
- veteran benefits
- resume-building positions
- discounted or free legal services
The program is currently scheduled to launch in March, 2017, but we need your help to insure its success and sustainability! Programs like these only succeed with the support of the community. Consider making a donation to MISSION UNITED today.
How to Get Involved
Veterans Court Administrator: UWP is currently looking for financial resources to hire a Veterans Court Administrator. Veterans Treatment Court will be based on the Drug Courts and Mental Health Courts established in the 1990s. In this model, the goal is to keep those with mental health issues out of the traditional justice system. The Veterans Treatment Court establishes a treatment process to rehabilitate veteran offenders. The Veterans Court Administrator will be the primary contact person between the detention center and the court system for this program, as well as coordinating the treatment process and matching the veteran with a mentor.
Attorney Services: UWP is recruiting local family law attorneys to provide pro bono hours to assist our active military and veterans with family legal issues that they otherwise cannot afford.
