D. Byrd Miller was presented with United Way of the Piedmont’s most prestigious award at the annual leadership reception.  The Morgan Award has been presented annually since 1986 to a volunteer for their civic contribution that demonstrates a spirit of caring for the community.

 

Miller , the 24nd recipient of The Morgan Award, is Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer of William Barnet & Son LLC, a synthetic fibers / yarns / polymers company with offices and manufacturing facilities in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.   Miller oversees all financial operations of the company including all of its foreign entities.  

 

A native of Greenville, SC., Miller is a graduate of Clemson University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He resides in Spartanburg with his wife Liza.  

 

Miller’s community service includes:

Past  board chair for United Way of the Piedmont,

Service on the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Arts Partnership, the Spartanburg Area Conservancy, and the Department of Natural Resources

Board of Governors Member for the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce.  

 

 A graduate of Leadership Spartanburg, Miller currently serves as a board member of the Carolina Alliance Bank, and a member of Spartanburg Regional Foundation’s Regional Fellows program.
