Nichole Buchanan was awarded the Walter S. Montgomery Award for Young Leadership at the 2011 United Way of the Piedmont Annual Meeting. The Walter S. Montgomery Award for Young Leadership was established in 2005 to recognize and celebrate those young members of our community who exhibit uncommon generosity, involvement and leadership in serving our human service organizations.
Nichole is an avid supporter of Spartanburg who truly wants to see the community continue to grow and prosper. Among other community volunteer activities, she has served for three years on the board of the Children Shelter of the Upstate, currently holds the position of Secretary and is also involved with the marketing and informational technology work of the Shelter. Nichole has worked tirelessly over the past year to raise funds and awareness for the Habitat for Humanity Women Build House that will begin construction in July.
Through it all, Nichole has championed the United Way of the Piedmont Young Leaders Society as Chair of the Advisory Board and worker bee on whatever task is at hand. Nichole brings to every endeavor the knowledge, skills, creativity and enthusiasm to do great things for her community. Congratulations, Nichole!
