Young Leaders Society TEAM Guide

United Way Young Leaders Society & Spartanburg Young Professionals TEAM Up to Promote Mentoring!

United Way of the Piedmont Young Leaders Society (YLS) and Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) are TEAMing up to Teach, Encourage, Advance and Mentor young people involved in youth agencies and schools in Spartanburg County.

The First TEAM event was held on January 21, 2010 at Hub-Bub in downtown Spartanburg. Over fifty members and potential members of SYP & YLS gathered to speak with representatives of local youth organizations and to learn more about mentoring.

Youth organizations represented included:

Big Brothers/Big Sisters 

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate

Children Shelter of the Upstate

Citizen Scholar program of Spartanburg County Foundation

Ellen Hines Smith Girls Home

Family Connections of School District 7

Hope Remains Youth Ranch

Mary H. Wright Elementary School

Sisters & Brothers in the Spirit (for Whitlock Jr. High School)
