No organization is better equipped than United Way to connect volunteers to the needs in our community.
Find your fit
Whether you represent a company looking for unique and rewarding team-building activities or you’re an individual wanting to connect to a cause you care about, United Way of the Piedmont can find you the perfect opportunity.
Companies today are looking for ways to meaningfully engage their employees and give back to their local communities. United Way of the Piedmont is pleased to offer corporate engagement services to help you give back while maximizing your time, money, and human resources.
Fill out our corporate volunteer request form to start the planning process with one of our staff members. We will work with you to create a meaningful volunteer experience that aligns with your corporate social responsibility goals and engages your employees.
FEATURED VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Reading Buddies volunteers read with kindergarten students for thirty minutes each week to support reading achievement in the early grades. United Way of the Piedmont is proud to engage volunteers who represent many parts of our community, such as manufacturing employees, executive directors, college students, and retirees. Find out more about our Reading Buddies program here.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
VITA volunteers provide free income tax assistance to thousands of individuals and families with a household income of approximately $60,000 a year or less in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. No experience is necessary and free training and resources are provided for all volunteers. Apply below.
Gifts-in-Kind Center (GIKC)
Our Gifts-in-Kind Center receives deliveries of returned, damaged, and unsold merchandise from Walmart every day. Monday through Thursday mornings, committed volunteers unload and sort these donated goods so local agencies can come to the GIKC and “shop” for products to support their missions. Apply below to become a weekly volunteer at the GIKC.
Community Investment Process (CIP)
United Way of the Piedmont invests in programs that tackle the most complex issues facing Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties through the Community Investment Process. The process is driven by donor volunteers, who ensure the sound investment of funds entrusted to us by studying all of the programs and making investment recommendations to the United Way Board of Directors. If you are a donor and are interested in being part of the Community Investment Process, apply below.
United Way of the Piedmont can also promote your nonprofit agency’s volunteer events. Email Heather Lother for more details.
