A consortium of community organizations led by United Way of the Piedmont came together in 2005 to form the Spartanburg County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Initiative. This coalition recruits and trains local volunteers to complete tax returns for low-moderate income families and, when appropriate, connect them with service providers that can help support their long-term financial stability. 45 trained community volunteers invested over 2,200 hours of their precious time last year in this intiative. In 2012 we began partnering with United Ways of Greenville, Anderson, Pickens and Laurens Counties.
