Young Leaders is a donor network specifically for young professionals, age 35 or younger, who strive to use their time, talent, and resources to create lasting change in our community. In addition to networking with other young professionals, members participate in local volunteer opportunities, social events, education sessions and other United Way of the Piedmont (UWP) sponsored events. Led by a volunteer advisory board, UWP’s Young Leaders learn more about the challenges our community faces and what they can do to help address them. A minimum investment of $100 qualifies an individual for membership, and serves as a starting point to lifelong investing in the work of UWP.

Every year United Way of the Piedmont selects one outstanding individual to receive the Young Leader Montgomery Award. The recipient of Walter S. Montgomery Award for Young Leaders is a member of our community, forty years of age and under, who exhibits uncommon generosity, involvement, and leadership qualities in serving our human service organizations and initiatives. The award is intended to applaud the individual who is making a difference. It is not merely a measure of how many boards or committees one joins, but the energy, passion, and enthusiasm he or she gives to those endeavors. To nominate someone click here.
