oUR IMPACT
We know that the biggest issues facing our community can’t be solved alone. That’s why United Way of the Piedmont brings together partners from across our region to tackle challenges in our four impact areas: community resilience, financial security, healthy community, and youth opportunity.
Community resiliency
We help our community respond to challenges—whether it’s a sudden crisis or a natural disaster–by offering relief and tools like our 211 helpline to connect people to local resources.
Financial security
Over 1 in 3 of our region's households struggle to afford their basic expenses. Together with partners, we make stability possible by providing services that help our neighbors secure jobs, meet essential needs, and build financial security for generations to come.
Healthy Community
We connect our community to the care, resources, and safe environments needed to thrive. From nutritious food and mental health services to disease prevention and health care access, we’re breaking down barriers so everyone can live a healthy, safe life.
Youth opportunity
We believe every child and young adult deserves the chance to reach their full potential. Through partnerships and community engagement we strive to increase access to early learning opportunities, improve academic outcomes, and support youth programs with proven impact. We create pathways to quality education that supports lifelong success.

Community Programs

Our 211 helpline provides referrals to programs across our region to assist with food, housing, financial assistance, utility assistance, and more. Help is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free income tax assistance to thousands of families across Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union counties every year.
Community Resource Coordinators
Community Resource Coordinators (CRCs) are case managers who provide support to families as they work toward stability. We embed CRCs in organizations and areas to serve people in greater need of financial security and resource support.
Community investments
Our community is powered by passionate nonprofits creating meaningful, on-the-ground change every day. At United Way of the Piedmont, we play a unique role in this ecosystem through our Community Investment Process: bringing together donors, volunteers, and partners to ensure that this vital work is funded strategically and sustainably. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
We work across sectors to develop collaborative solutions for community-wide challenges, including homelessness, education, and mental health. In Spartanburg County, we support initiatives such as the Behavioral Health Task Force, the
Long-Term Recovery Group for disaster response,
A Place to Call Home, and the Safety Net Council. In Union County, we lead for support
Union Uplifted.
